An auger drill bit is very powerful for drilling holes for electricians in woodframe construction as the woodchips and shavings are removed as the drill bit continues to bore the hole. Auger bits can also drill through nails, but should be avoided as it dulls the bit (which can be sharpened).
Auger bits come in various sizes for bigger or smaller holes.. it’s wise to not get too big of an auger as it can be strenuous on a drill, and even break the cotter pin on some types of drills if drilling with too big of an auger bit!
