Probably the fastest moving market in the construction world is batteries. The newer Lithium-ion gave massive improvements to battery performance in cold weather, torque, and longer life due to increased storage capacity. You typically want the biggest amp-hour rated battery that comes with your drill purchase. (When I started it was 3.0, then 4.0 came out.. now we’re up to 5.0 amp-hour which power tool companies now provide by default!)
It’s usually best to buy batteries in a combo set.. it often comes with one or two batteries, and as you upgrade drills, your batteries can often last multiple generations! (Make sure to fully charge batteries to encourage a healthy memory cycle of the battery).
I personally liked to have 3 Batteries.. one for my drill, one for my hackzall, and one that was always charging & ready to go.
